The Ordinary Serum Foundation – Hell Yes!

For many years I have been a die-hard MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation girl, and no matter what other products I tried, all roads led me back to my love of Studio Fix Fluid. However, that has all changed! I am now a sworn advocate of The Ordinary’s Serum Foundation. So when I purchased this I had already discovered my love of their fantastic skin care range, and some friends had recommended the foundation so I had to give it a try. I ordered both their coverage foundation and their Serum foundation in shade 2.0YG (Yellow gold base tone) but for me the Serum foundation wins hands down. It leaves the skin glowy, dewy and looking like skin. It delivers decent coverage and the longevity is amazing. All through my MAC days, I have always had to touch up my foundation but these days I genuinely do not have time for that nonsense. I have a toddler running around so once I apply my makeup in the morning, that is it! And I’m so delighted to say, it stays absolutely flawless!

What are the best things about this foundation? It is available in 21 shades, it has an SPF15, it’s cruelty free, vegan, oil free, alcohol free, lightweight with good moderate coverage, it doesn’t go cakey or dry out the skin as it is a water based formula… and the very best thing? It’s €6.70 for a normal 30ml bottle of high quality foundation.

What are the drawbacks? Recent press suggests that the company is closing down due to criminal activity in less than two months time! My solution – stock up now!!!

Here is the result after I apply it. Other products I use alongside this foundation are;

  • Moisturising Factors + HA – The Ordinary (Moisturiser)
  • High Adherence Silicone Primer – The Ordinary
  • Shape Tape – Tarte Cosmetics (Concealer)
  • Give Me Sun – MAC (Bronzing Powder)
  • Orgasm – Nars (Blusher)
  • Trooper – Kat Von D Tattoo Liner
  • Dipbrow (Soft Brown) – Anastasia Beverley Hills
  • Paradise Mascara – L’Oreal

Where is it available? I always purchase my products from The Ordinary directly from their website but I believe it is now available in Arnotts too.

What shade is right for you? I used a match chart from legendary makeup artist Wayne Goss. He created this list of matching MAC shades, which is incredibly helpful;
